The Abolitionist is a unit in Civilization: Call to Power.
Summary[]
The Abolitionist seeks to tear down the 'peculiar institution' of slavery. Picking between two attacks, she can free slaves or aid an uprising, both of which covertly wound the slaving nation. The Abolitionist is a stealth unit, which allows her to hide from regular armies and to see Slavers as they ply their vile trade. Exercising her special abilities costs gold.
Great Library entry[]
The Enlightenment, which espoused the importance of individual rights combined with the religious sentiment of the era, helped spawn a powerful new movement aimed at abolishing the institution of slavery. In the United States, the Anti-Slavery Society in the industrialized northern states held that slavery robbed the African of his inherent "natural" rights. On these grounds, the Abolitionists lobbied for the immediate cessation of slavery and created the Underground Railroad as a means to help slaves escape.
