Alpha Centauri is the closest star system to the Solar System consisting of three stars: Proxima Centauri, Alpha Centauri A, and Alpha Centauri B. It is 4.37 light years away from the Sun with Proxima Centauri being closest.
Alpha Centauri appears in almost all Civilization games. Building a spaceship to travel from Earth to a habitable planet within the Alpha Centauri system before the other civilizations do so is a way of winning the game.
