The Army Commander is a Commander unit in Civilization VII.
Strategy
The Army Commander can gain XP and level up to provide combat boosts to land units around it.
Civilopedia entry
Soldiers are commissioned under the risk of death; this demands organization and inspiration. As war became a game of strategy and not one of personal glory, and as troop formations (e.g. the Greek phalanx or the ancient Indian vyuham) grew more vital to victory, commanders needed specialized training. At times, these could be political leaders, or they could be part of a specialized military class. But, as Julius Caesar amply demonstrated, the lines between them could be easily crossed.
