A bonus is one of the special features of a civilization or leader in the Civilization Revolution games that provide unique gameplay advantages. One (the starting bonus) is active at the beginning of the game, and the others (the era bonuses) become active upon researching enough technologies to advance to each era.

In Civilization Revolution 2, starting bonuses are tied to the civilization and era bonuses are tied to the leader. America, for example, has different era bonuses under Lincoln and John F. Kennedy.
