Bronze Working is an early technology, the first technology suggested by your advisors, unless the Civilization begins with Bronze Working. Bronze Working enables civs to create Spearmen, and, if that civilization has The Wheel, then they can create Chariots. It allows for the development of Iron Working, and, subsequently, Construction.
