Around 3500 BC, humanity discovered that beaten copper repeatedly heated in a fire became less brittle. Bronze, an alloy of Tin and Copper, was discovered soon after, probably because in many deposits, Tin and Copper naturally occur together. After this, bronze swords, armor, and shields became common.
