A building is a permanent fixture in a city that provides it with various benefits. Some Civilization Revolution players prefer to build vast armies and crush their enemies, but buildings are necessary for those who want their cities to flourish. Your first city in a game of Civilization Revolution will contain little more than a Palace (small as it may be!) and a few homes, but constructing a few buildings in it will allow it to grow into a bustling metropolis over time.

Building Bonuses

  • Production: Constructing buildings such as the Workshop or Iron Mine can boost production provided by hills and mountains respectively.
  • Scientific: Constructing buildings such as the Library and University will allow your empire to research new technologies more quickly.
  • Cultural: Constructing cultural buildings, such as the Temple and Cathedral, will increase the culture produced by your city, providing more Great People and increasing your chances of flipping nearby enemy cities.
  • Economic: Constructing economic buildings, such as the Market and Bank, will allow your city to produce more gold.
  • Combat: Constructing certain buildings can offer combat bonuses. For example, building a Barracks boosts all new units produced in the city to the veteran level automatically, and building Walls will increase defense against incoming attacks by 100%.
  • Population Growth: Some buildings increase the amount of population growth provided by region specific squares (e.g. the Granary gives +2 additional food on plains, totaling to 3). The Aqueduct increases growth rate for population by roughly 50%.

Build Time

Constructing buildings, like all activities in Civilization Revolution, takes time. The amount of turns varies depending on a city's production potential; it can be as few as 2-3 turns or as many as 30-45 turns. Buildings take noticeably fewer turns to be constructed than wonders, but some of the more advanced buildings can still take quite a bit of time to construct. The amount of production (or "hammers") required to construct buildings ranges from 40 (Barracks, Library, Granary, Temple) to 200 (Factory). Settling a Great Builder in a city will halve the amount of turns required for it to construct buildings.
