- "A four-billion year old world's worth of resources, shared among a handful of people. We're gonna make a fortune here!"
- Hutama, We are All Destined to Prosper
From the ancient age when Bacon, Boyle, Hooke and Mayow began reshaping alchemy into a scientific discipline, bringing rigor and order to the study of the elements, chemistry has been one of the most vital fields of research. As the laws of chemistry were codified and the nature of matter understood, chemistry became a vital area of industrial and scientific endeavor. When Mankind pushed into space, new branches opened, such as astrochemistry, supramolecular chemistry, and organometallic chemistry. New planets bring new discoveries – such as firaxite and floatstone – which in turn drive chemical research into unexpected directions. Of the applied sciences, it can be readily said that chemistry is the most vital for the successful human colonization of the cosmos.
Chemistry is a Primary Tech within Tier 1 of the Tech Web. This technology allows the construction of Submarines, the Laboratory and Recycler, reveals Petroleum resources and allows their improvement with Petroleum Wells.

In Universe Information
Chemistry allows humankind to understand what it cannot see. For ages on Earth chemistry was half-science, half-mystical cult, until the proper technology was developed that allowed us to finally peer into the small elements around us which we couldn't see or feel. And then, it redefined our entire scientific base. Now, on a new planet, it turns there are even more elements we weren't aware of, elements which change our basic understanding of the Universe.
Chemistry was one of the first major sciences to undergo a thorough overhaul after the initial results of planetary surveys were in. Elements like those found in Floatstone or Firaxite opened up entire new avenues of development, and caused the appearance of new branches of chemistry, such as supramolecular chemistry and organometallic chemistry. Curiously enough, it took all these developments to rediscover one of humanity's oldest friends in the natural world - petroleum - on this planet. Which only tells us that humankind will continue to learn until it exists.
