This is a wiki designed in order to help understanding of the PC game franchise Civilization and related games. Within 7 months of its founding, it had added Colonization, and it has gradually developed pages on both commercial and free spin-off and imitation games. For a game such as Freeciv, which has its own wiki, little apart from links will be found here; but empire-building games that do not have their own Wikia sites can be included here in as much detail as contributors care to offer.

It is also intended to help in the modding of the Civ games. Civ 4 and 5 have one of the largest modding capabilities of any games but very few people have the ability to understand everything required, so this will hopefully help them in getting into modding or in getting past hurdles. Also, this will hopefully extensively document the many other mods that exist already for Civ4 and Civ5 that have very different gameplay than the vanilla versions.
