Civilopedia entry[]
A courser is not a man – it is a horse. More specifically, a warhorse with a swift and strong gait. The term is as such a general one, referring to a knight’s mount that is less heavily armored than later versions. Such knights could range from a person in mail with a sword to a mounted samurai, but in each instance, mastery of a courser signifies someone who has invested a great deal of wealth into arms – indicating a noble or semi-noble warrior who has trained to hew necks, and not wood.
