Elite is a status that can be attained by military units in C-evo and the Civilization games. It is awarded for winning battles after attaining Veteran status (or being trained in a city with the proper buildings and Great People) and grants additional bonuses in combat.
Civilization III
Elite units receive +2 hit points and have a chance to produce Military Leaders each time they win a battle.
Civilization Revolution
Elite units learn one of nine special abilities. They learn an additional one (to a maximum of six) each time they win three battles or defeat an enemy unit of equal or greater strength.

"Elite" is the seventh and highest morale level. There are base facilities and Secret Projects that provide morale bonuses, and moving a unit onto a monolith increases its morale by one level.
