  • Civilizations start with a Scout (an early version of the Explorer and may build additional Scouts immediately.
  • Passive Minor tribes will never spawn barbarians upon visiting them and are always safe. In addition, they will reward the player with a bonus ancient technology more often across most difficulty levels.
  • Expansionist civilizations start the game with Pottery, if the civilization is both Expansionist and Agricultural then it starts with Masonry as well.
