Colonial explorers in Australia were often intrepid, ambitious people who sought fame and recognition for their efforts. Unfortunately for them, the Outback had little sympathy for their desires. Of the many who headed out into the bush without basic understanding of its dangers, few would return unscathed. Some wouldn’t return at all.
