Back to List of units in CivRev
The Fighter is the first of only two air units available in Civilization Revolution. Three units may be combined into a Fighter Wing, which cannot be split up later.
Unit Analysis[]
Fighters have a range of 8 spaces per turn and fuel for 2 turns. They can attack any unit, but must attack any enemy air units in the space first. If the unit is not landed in a friendly city by the end of the second turn, it crashes and is lost.
Unique Replacements[]
- American Fighters are replaced by the Mustang Fighter.
- English Fighters are replaced by the Spitfire Fighter.
- German Fighters are replaced by the ME109 Fighter.
- Japanese Fighters are replaced by the Zero Fighter.
Civilopedia entry[]
The Wright Brothers, the world's first successful aeronautical engineers, performed their first flight in 1903. By 1911, the globe was embroiled in World War I and the plane had gone from being an astounding engineering success to a deadly weapon of war. Early fighter planes, capable of both mid-air combat (or "dogfights") as well as bombing missions, have been used in every major world conflict since and have become a modern tool of warfare that no powerful nation can be without.
Fun facts[]
The Red Baron, a German fighter pilot of World War I, remains one of the most renowned warriors of the sky, with eighty confirmed victorious dogfights.
Some researchers are currently attempting to take the human element out of the fighter plane. The American X-45 fighter is an unmanned fighter plane capable of taking off, tracking and dispatching a target and landing, all controlled by a remote pilot.
