The Medjay is a melee unit from the Gifts of the Nile scenario in Civilization VI. It can only be trained in a city that has a Holy Site with a Shrine.

Strategy

The Medjay is a strong, maintenance-free unit that becomes even stronger when adjacent to a Holy Site in friendly territory. They're best used to defend your land from foreign invaders, but stationing them near a Holy Site in a newly-captured city may deter the enemy from trying to retake it.

Once referring to the people from the Nubian land of Medja, by the 16th Century BCE the name “medjay” was synonymous with an elite force employing both Nubians and Egyptians. Charged with protecting monuments, palaces, and tombs, the mostly autonomous medjay reported to regional captains who oversaw their allocation.
