Luxury resource.

Strategy[]

Furs are found mainly in the polar regions of the world, most of the time in Forests, or rarely on bare Tundra tiles. They're accessed via Camps, which makes it possible to preserve the original Forest and use its additional output.

Furs are important source of additional Gold Gold in these regions where there are few other resources; civilizations which start there should seek them out and claim them early.

Civilopedia entry[]

As a resource, "fur" refers to the pelt or coat of certain mammals prized for their warmth and beauty. Unlike animals such as sheep, whose hair can be shaved off without destroying the animal, fur animals are killed when their skins are harvested. Humans have hunted animals for their furs for uncounted millennia. In the early years the hunters and their families probably ate the animals they caught, but in modern times the animal's body has been often discarded. Animals hunted for their fur include foxes, bears, beavers, seals, and rabbits.
