The Giant's Causeway is a two-tile impassable natural wonder available in Civilization VI with the Vikings Scenario Pack. The Giant's Causeway occupies one Coast tile and one land tile (either a Grassland or Plains). Each wonder tile provides +1 Culture Culture and 2 Appeal to adjacent tiles.

A land combat unit that moves adjacent to the Giant's Causeway receives the Spear of Fionn ability, which grants it a permanent, one-time bonus of +5 Strength Combat Strength.

In Civilization VI: Rise and Fall, discovering the Giant's Causeway grants +1 Era Score, or +3 Score if the player is the first to do so.

Strategy[]

Like most natural wonders that grant unit bonuses, building a city close to the Giant's Causeway is a good idea, if only to keep other civilizations (or barbarians) from using it. Build an Encampment next to it, and every unit trained in the city will automatically gain the Spear of Fionn ability.

While the Giant's Causeway is impassable, it is not a Mountain, and ranged units can shoot over it.

Civilopedia entry[]

Clusters of geometric columns known as the Giant's Causeway can be found along the coast of Northern Ireland. The columns vary in height, like a pipe organ that got away from itself. The columns closest to the coast disappear into the North Channel, while others jut out of the ground like basalt palisade walls. Legends claim the causeway was built by Irish giant Finn MacCool, who had been challenged to a fight by Scottish giant Benandonner. (Geologists disagree, connecting the pillar formation to volcanic activity 50 million years ago.)

Trivia[]

  • The Giant's Causeway is the only natural wonder in Civilization VI that must occupy two types of terrain.
  • Along with Eyjafjallajökull and Lysefjord, the Giant's Causeway was the first natural wonder to be added to Civilization VI in an expansion.
