Gameplay[]
Granaries increase the amount of food provided by Plains regions by two! You cannot build a Granary if there are no Plains regions around your city.

Granaries are buildings where seasonally-grown crops can be stored for later use. The invention of granaries was an extremely important step in the development of civilization - true cities were not possible until citizens could survive a long winter by consuming food grown the previous summer.
Trivia[]
- In modern grain silos, it is possible for static electricity to build up among the chaff inside. Statically charges silos have been known to explode under the proper conditions.
- Many of the world's most popular alcoholic beverages were developed as a way to put excess grain to good use. Sake (rice wine) in Japan, scotch (made form barley) in Scotland and vodka (made from wheat or potatoes) in Russia all turn unneeded grain that would have otherwise rotted into sources of fresh calories and occasional headaches.
