Grassland (Hills) is a base terrain in Civilization VI which is a variant of Grassland tiles. Like other Grassland tiles, they are usually found in moderate climates, roughly halfway between the equator and the poles of the map.

Grassland Hills provide 1 Civ6Production Production in addition to the 2 Civ6Food Food produced by basic Grassland tiles. Grassland Hills may be improved with Mines, which makes them considerably more productive than other Grassland tiles. All Hills have a +3 Civ6StrengthIcon Combat Strength modifier, which can strengthen city defenses, as well as protect vulnerable units.

Civilopedia entryEdit

One way to protect all those riches was to put troops on top of hills when attacked, for (until bullets and bombs were invented) holding the high ground was a pretty good strategy. Thus, in time, hills were dotted by civilization's forts and castles, with fine views over the surrounding countryside.
