Histories are statistical reports featuring in several Civilization titles. They are periodic in-game messages, presented as publications by historical figures, which provide comparative rankings of extant civilizations in one of several categories, including wealth, development, culture, population, happiness, and military strength.
Histories list the ranking of the player's civilization, and all active civs with which the player has established diplomatic contact. In earlier games, playing on Chieftain difficulty lists all extant civs upfront.
