Civilopedia entry[]
Once there was a woman named Naipí. She and her lover Tarobá lived in the southern part of South America, below the belt of the Amazon Rainforest. Naipí’s beauty was legendary throughout the land – but a local god decided to steal her away. As the two humans fled by canoe down the Iguazú River, the god sliced the waters, creating the Iguazú Falls. The falls are on the border between Brazil and Argentina, and form one of the largest waterfalls in the world – taller than Victoria and Niagara Falls. At times, Iguazú experiences the highest flow rate in the world, understandable given the precipitation level of its subtropical climate.
Trivia[]
- Iguazú Falls' wonder quote is a battle cry often attributed in Brazilian literature to Guaraní leader Sepé Tiaraju during his rebellion against his people's forced relocation by Portuguese and Spanish forces.
