Introduction[]

"Isolated 2" is one of the predesigned maps available from C-evo's "Configurator".

The human player starts on a somewhat unproductive corner of a moderate-sized island and can reach several smaller islands with Longboats but needs Navigation to reach other nations. The other 14 nations start on a single huge much-dissected continent that contains 21 potential starting positions, so that there are hundreds of possible combinations.

The vital rare minerals are widely distributed.

Play at "hard" level[]

After a very slow start, a player on the "Hard" difficulty level can win against the Standard AI with a bit of luck and lots of good management. Technology boosts from other nations will probably be essential, but there is no certainty that your friends will long survive invasions by less advanced but bigger enemies. Blockades with air units are likely to be the only way to avoid early defeat by invaders.

C-evo Isolated 2

Bombers will gain experience with the trapped enemy transports!

Flaws?[]

Aspects of the design that could be criticized:

  • Human's starting island and the others that can be reached without Navigation contain not a single mountain or river tile - so no Hydroelectric Dam or Hoover Dam there. (The big continent has several mountains and a few rivers, as do other islands.)
  • Five of the 21 possible starting positions have too little food to maintain population at 4 and will therefore lose population initially. Those five include one of two positions that are very close together and either one will be OK if only one is selected). Unsurprisingly, they tend to become merely legendary early.
