The Longship is a unit in Civilization: Call to Power.
Summary[]
The Longship opens the seas to conquest. With new construction techniques involving clinker hulls and iron nails, the Viking's ship withstands the pounding of open seas. Its shallow hull makes the Longship an excellent open-ocean transport, carrying up to two units.
Great Library entry[]
The Viking longship represented a significant evolution in ship design. The longship incorporated iron nails with a clinker hull of overlapping planks to strengthen the ship. Besides having great strength, the shallow hull made the longship perfect for coastal raids. Without the need for separate landing craft, the Vikings struck as quickly as they appeared, and vanished like morning fog.
