Game Info[]
Advanced production improvement. Requires Construction.
- Constructed on:
- Forest (no need to clear it)
- Effect:
- +1 Production
- +1 additional Production after researching Scientific Theory
Strategy[]
The Lumber Mill allows the use of forest tiles without cutting the forest down. In flat, grassland areas devoid of hills, forests may turn into the only terrain with Production potential, and cutting them down will decrease this potential. That's where a Lumber Mill comes in handy. If playing as the Iroquois, Lumber Mills become part of a larger forest-based strategy. When used in conjunction with the forest tile production bonus of the Iroquois' unique building, the Longhouse, they can provide a massive boost to a city's Production.
Civilopedia entry[]
A lumbermill allows you to improve the production output of forest hexes.
