Marketplace is a city improvement in Civilization: Call to Power.

Effect[]

The Marketplace encourages trade in a city and increases the city's gold income by 50%. It also allows Merchants, who increase gold in a city.

As Trade increased, merchants discovered a need for a meeting place where they could gather and trade on a regular basis. The Marketplace, which opened on a set day once per week or per month so merchants could make as few forays into the city as possible, became the ancient precursor to the shopping centers of the 20th century.
