Mesopotamia is a region of Earth that includes present-day Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Syria. Historically, it was home to the Assyrians, Babylonians, Hittites, Persians, and Sumerians.
Mesopotamia is usually treated as a subregion of the Middle East.
