Back to Disaster
A Meteor Shower is a natural disaster in Civilization VI, introduced in the Maya & Gran Colombia Pack. It is the only disaster that exclusively affects neutral territory.
- Effects:
- Pummels neutral territory, leaving behind a Meteor Site.
- A Meteor Site does not grant any extra yields, but provides a free heavy cavalry unit to the civilization that activates it. This unit requires no resources to create or maintain.
Mechanics[]
The Meteor Sites that Meteor Showers produce are treated as Tribal Villages by the game. They can be activated the same way (either by moving a unit onto their tile or expanding a city's borders to claim it) and provide all of the associated bonuses (such as awarding recon units +5 XP and giving players a chance to discover the Voidsingers).
The heavy cavalry unit received will be the strongest heavy cavalry unit players are capable of training. Players will still receive a Heavy Chariot even if they have not researched Wheel.
Havoc caused by Meteor Showers is minimal. Even if the meteor falls on a unit, that unit takes no damage. However, if the meteor falls on a tile improvement (Forts, Airstrips, Missile Silos, etc.), the improvement will be removed.
Bugs[]
Meteor Showers will never land on Tundra or Tundra Hills tiles. The reason why these terrain types are excluded is unknown.
