The Missionary is a religious unit from the Path to Nirvana scenario in Civilization VI.

  • Attributes:
    • Can Defend against (but not initiate) Theological Combat.
    • Can ignore national borders.
  • Abilities:
    • Spread Religion (3 charges)
      • Converts Citizen Citizens in adjacent city to Missionary's religion (Pressure = 2 * Missionary's current HP) and reduces total Religious Pressure of all foreign religions in the city by 10%.

Civilopedia entry[]

A missionary is a person who feels called to spread their religion and convert non-believers to it. This process is called proselytization, and may be accompanied by charitable works on behalf of the prospective believers--or more forceful methods. Missionaries may be anointed religious, such as priests, or dedicated lay persons in the faith. Missionaries sometimes provide insight into the pre-contact cultures they reach out to, including documenting beliefs, rituals, and language, although often with the intent of replacing these with their preferred belief.
