Mountains are a type of terrain in Civilization Revolution. They are impassable to all units except Fighters and Bombers.

A mountain provides 1 production (+2 with the Mongols' Industrial Era bonus) to nearby cities. An Iron Mine can increase the production power of mountain tiles by 4.

Civilopedia entry[]

Most often the result of collisions between tectonic plates, mountains are areas of highly-elevated terrain. Although somewhat counter-intuitive, geologically, the tallest mountains on earth are also the youngest: over time wind and water will erode even the mightiest peaks. The Himalayan Mountains, the tallest on Earth, are some 60 million years old, while the lowly Catskills of the United States are more than 300 million years of age. Mountains are difficult places to live, but they often contain a lot of the important raw materials required for civilization - gems, metals, coal, goats, and the like.

Fun facts[]

Eight of the ten highest mountains in the world are in a single country: Nepal.

Mount Olympus, a 10,000ft (3000m) high peak in central Greece, was thought to be the home to the Greek gods.
