Some guidelines to writing Strategy sections
This guide will provide a few instructions on how to write an effective strategy part, and what is expected, and what should and shouldn't be included. Considering the huge upcoming patch, it is important that we are on the same page. By reading this blog post, you may find the answers to the following:
- Who can contribute.
- What should be considered for the Strategy and what should be left out.
- Why certain strategy parts are kept almost entirely, some are kept with some modifications and some are removed completely.
Note: I will try to be as clear as possible on what is expected, so I will provide some examples from the past, which were written by real people and could still be seen from the articles' history. If you see your writing as an example of what should be avoided or what makes little sense, please don't take it personally.
Part 1: Who can contribute
This part is very simple, the quick answer to that, as well as the answer to "who can contribute to the wiki as the whole," is everyone. However, considering the readers should be the priority of any strategy part, these are the expected "qualifications" (if you must) that the contributors should have:
- Have some levels of experience with the
civ/unit/building/etc that you are talking about.
- Believe it or not, it is very easy to tell if a person is just guessing how certain things should work without having any real experience with them. The writing in that case will often lack details, since that person cannot know the ins-and-o…
Genoa and the development of Civ6

It is obtained from data mining from xml files of Civilization VI after every major update, which may or may not reflect future contents. (Most of the content from this post was gathered by Potworny, a Polish user on the CivFanatic Forum. You can read their full post here:
The Hidden and Unused content of Civilization VI | CivFanatics Forums)
The question on everyone's mind at the moment is what the final civilization for March is. There are largely two sides: one is for a Native North American civilization (for the sake of geographical completion), and two is for Portugal (considering how much of a fan service NFP has been). Firaxis has been surprisingly tight-lipped when it comes to the last civilization, especially considering all civs revealed had been leaked way before their release (with the sole exception of Gauls), most notoriously Vietnam/Kublai Khan and the Monopoly game mode were leaked in a readme 6 months prior to their official announcement. This blog post's purpose is to inform you that there are many pieces of content that are planned during the development of Civ6, but have never seen the light of day. That includes Genoa as a playable civilization and an unused model of a leader.
To save you a google trip, Genoa is one of many independent maritime republics before the unification to become modern Italy.…
What is to come for New Frontier Pass

As many of you know, after the July update (concurrent with the Ethiopia Pack), the new civilization and new alternative leader for the Pack 5 (January 2021) were hinted to be Vietnam and Kublai Khan. These choices are not surprising, considering the civilization choices made in NFP were largely influenced by polls on the CivFanatic Forum, which were published a few months after the release of Gathering Storm (as the matter of fact, the only popular request currently missing is the return of Portugal). Vietnam and Kublai led their respective polls about "New Civ to the franchise" and "New alternative leader".
In the new Teddy Roosevelt folder in the DLC folder in game data, there is a readme which states:
This folder contains gameplay data. Be careful to distinguish between two types of gameplay files:
1. Gameplay that needs to be on by default (ex. KublaiKhan_Vietnam_Civilizations.xml for the new content, KublaiKhan_Vietnam_Expansion2.xml for tweaks specific to playing in the XP2 ruleset) Expansion1_Required Material will work in either expansion as long as you have Expansion1 enabled.
2. Gameplay that is part of an optional mode, specifying the ruleset needed (if any) and ending in “_M…
