Civilopedia entry[]
The art of warfare is not solely reliant on combat between national military forces but often employs irregulars. Of these, partisans play a crucial role in the defense of the homeland. These forces are recruited or formed from civilian populations and are most commonly associated with the resistance movements of World War II.
Partisan warfare typically takes two forms: guerrilla and covert operations. Because partisan troops are typically local to the regions in which they fight, their familiarity with the terrain makes them ideal for surprise attacks and acts of sabotage. In populated areas, covert tactics expand beyond direct combat to include espionage and subversion through rumors and news sources in order to undermine the enemy presence and strengthen the national armed forces.
