CivilizationVI DLC-Persia and Macedon Key Art

Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack key art

The Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack is a DLC for Civilization VI released on March 28, 2017. It is now available to purchase on various digital game distributors including Steam.

Steam DescriptionEdit

Alexander leads Macedon and Cyrus leads Persia in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI! Macedon’s abilities will let you conquer the whole world, and Persia can grow rich and cultured, or launch surprise invasions with incredible ease. These historical adversaries are paired well together, and feature in the new “Conquests of Alexanderscenario. Can you determine the fate of the Near East, and the course of history?

Includes the Macedonian civilization with Alexander the Great, the Hypaspist unique unit, and the Basilikoi Paides unique building:

  • Civ Unique Ability: The “Hellenistic Fusion” ability gives Macedon Tech or Civic Eurekas depending on what Districts are present in a captured city.
  • Leader Unique Ability: Alexander’s “To World’s End” ability lets Macedon stay at war longer by greatly reducing war weariness. He also gives Macedon the Hetairoi: a fast Heavy Cavalry unit that starts with a free promotion, which replaces the Horseman.
  • Unique Unit: The Hypaspist replaces the Swordsman, gets extra bonuses from supporting units, and is stronger at besieging Districts.
  • Unique Building: The Basilikoi Paides can be built in any Encampment that doesn’t have a stable. It provides bonuses for all melee, ranged land, and Hetairoi trained in the city. It also provides some Civ6Science Science anytime a non-civilian unit is created in the city.

Also includes the Persian civilization with Cyrus, the Immortal unique unit, and the Pairidaeza unique improvement:

  • Civ Unique Ability: The “Satrapies” ability gives Persia a free TradeRoute6 Trade Route when they develop Political Philosophy, and enhanced yields from their internal trade routes.
  • Leader Unique Ability: Cyrus has the “Fall of Babylon” ability, giving Civ6Movement Movement and yield bonuses for a short time after declaring a Surprise War, and negating some of the diplomatic penalties of declaring a Surprise War too.
  • Unique Unit: Persia’s unique unit is the famous Immortal. This Swordsman replacement gets a bonus ranged attack, and is very strong on defense.
  • Unique Improvement: The Pairidaeza provide Civ6Culture Culture, Civ6Gold Gold, and Appeal, as well as bonus Civ6Culture Culture or Civ6Gold Gold for adjacent Districts and City Centers. Over time, they’ll provide even more yields as you advance through the tech & civic tree.

New “Conquests of Alexander” Scenario:

  • Race against time to prove yourself as great a conqueror as Alexander the Great! This scenario is focused on combat, expansion, and the calculated use of your Great Generals.
  • As you increase the difficulty, you have fewer and fewer turns in which to conquer the known world, providing a real challenge for military strategists.

Two New Wonders:

  • Mausoleum at Halicarnassus: One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World returns to Civilization. The Mausoleum allows you to get additional bonuses from your Great Admirals and Great Engineers.
  • Apadana: The Persians were famous for their audience halls, and the best example was found in Persepolis. This Wonder provides extra Envoy6 Envoys every time you build a World Wonder – including the Apadana!

New achievementsEdit

The following new Steam achievements were introduced in this DLC:

Steam achievement Envoy Convoy (Civ6)
Envoy Convoy
After building the Apadana wonder, construct 7 additional wonders in the same city
This is a rhyming reference to the Apadana's ability, which is to grant two envoys for each wonder (including itself) built in the city starting with its construction. This would be using a somewhat figurative definition of convoy.
Steam achievement Greatest Is As Greatest Does (Civ6)
Greatest Is As Greatest Does
Playing as Macedon, conquer a city containing both the Great Library and Great Lighthouse wonders
Both wonders have the epithet 'Great' as did Alexander. Also, both were built in one of his founded cities (Alexandria in Egypt).
Steam achievement He Named Them All After Himself? (Civ6)
He Named Them All After Himself?
Settle four cities in Conquests of Alexander on any difficulty
Alexander notoriously founded numerous cities with the name 'Alexandria' during his campaign.
Steam achievement I Quenched Your Thirst For Blood (Civ6)
I Quenched Your Thirst For Blood
Playing as Scythia, recapture one of your founded cities from Persia
Possibly a reference to Tomyris' Declares War voice line and her famous feud with Cyrus. Another possible reference is Tomyris' supposed remarks upon killing Cyrus: 'See now, I fulfill my threat; you have your fill of blood'.
Steam achievement King of the Four Corners of the World (Civ6)
King of the Four Corners of the World
Win a regular game as Cyrus
A title commonly attributed to the Achaemenid kings of Persia.
Steam achievement Never Lost a Battle (Civ6)
Never Lost a Battle
Win a regular game as Alexander
Alexander was famously undefeated on the battlefield.
Steam achievement No More Worlds To Conquer (Civ6)
No More Worlds To Conquer
Win Conquests of Alexander on any difficulty
A quote by ancient Greek historian Plutarch in reference to Alexander: 'When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer'.
Steam achievement Resplendent Panoply (Civ6)
Resplendent Panoply
Possess all of the following after conquering a city in Conquests of Alexander: Hoplite, Saka Horse Archer, Maryannu Chariot Archer, Immortal, and Varu
'Panoply' is the ancient Greek word for 'armor'. In this case, the player has collected these units' different suits of armor by conquering their cities.
Steam achievement Some Wine For Your Soldiers? (Civ6)
Some Wine For Your Soldiers?
Playing as Persia, conquer the original Scythian capital within 10 turns of declaring a surprise war on Scythia
During Cyrus' invasion of Scythia, he set up a trap where some of his soldiers set out a camp and drank wine. Scythians under Tomyris' son's command attacked the camp and drank all the wine there to celebrate. When Cyrus returned, he found little resistance in the drunk Scythians and slaughtered them.
Steam achievement You're the Demonstrably Greatest (Civ6)
You're the Demonstrably Greatest
Achieve the highest possible rank in Conquests of Alexander at Deity difficulty
A reference to Alexander the Great's greatness, either in building an empire, the difficulty of such an empire, or a reference to his self-proclaimed divinity.
