Strategy

The Phalanx is the Sumerian unique unit, replacing the Spearman. It is available on an earlier technology (Mining instead of Bronze Working) than the Spearman.

The Sumerians were one of the first civilizations to utilize the Phalanx formation, wherein a densely formed group of soldiers carrying large shields and spears were capable of protecting one another from incoming attacks, while also moving as one and pushing back against their foes.
