Production is a fundamental resource for Civilization. Production represents the concept of a general pool of labor. Production is necessary for two very critical things. First, one needs to accumulate production in order to build city improvements, units, and Wonders. Second, in order to build any tile improvements such as farms or Fmines, the player needs to contribute a certain percentage of production to its Public Works. Production is generated by assigning citizens to work certain terrain tiles. Laborers, city improvements, and Wonders can increase Production as well.

Great Library entry[]

Civilization grows on the backs of industry and labor. As long as there have been cities, those cities have been centers for the design and manufacturing of finished goods. By the third millennium BC, artisans had adapted the pottery wheel, one of the earliest production tools. In later ages, the pottery wheel would be succeeded by the loom, the factory, and finally the Nanite production facility.
