A project is a type of task that a City can undertake by investing
Production in Civilization VII and its expansions. Unlike units,
Buildings, or
Wonders, projects do not produce a permanent physical entity on the map, but instead provide temporary or situational benefits while active or upon completion.
Mechanics[]
Projects are the fourth and final type of task a City can undertake, alongside
Buildings, units, and
Wonders. Because projects cannot be purchased with
Gold and rely solely on
Production,
Towns are unable to undertake them, as they do not generate
Production.
Projects are generally considered the lowest priority, as their benefits are highly situational, context-dependent, and often temporary. Some projects provide ongoing bonuses while active and can be canceled at any time. However, in the Modern Age, additional projects become available that are essential for earning legacy points toward specific victory conditions, making them valuable only when those paths are actively pursued.
