- Religious Civilizations do not experience prolonged periods of anarchy, during revolutions to change government. At most they will experience 2 turns of anarchy (in eariler versions of civilization 3 this could be 1 turn) before being able to select their new government.
- All buildings marked with the flag 'Religious' will have their production costs halved, which effectively means they're half price or built at double speed compared to other non-religious civilizations. The Religious buildings are Temple and Cathedral).
- Industrious civilizations start the game with Ceremonial Burial
