River is a type of terrain in Civilization: Call to Power.

Gameplay[]

Rivers provide a wealth of natural resources, and add value to any other terrain. The river helps irrigate the land and allows fishing, thus increasing food. Harnessing the rivers strong currents yields increased production. Rivers also increase gold while reducing movement costs.

Great Library entry[]

The Nile River served a critical role in the development of cities and nations dating back to ancient times. Located in the harsh desert of North Africa, the river allowed civilizations to thrive in otherwise inhospitable terrain. Early calendars allowed farmers to predict the Nile's floods, which irrigated their land. Commerce prospered as merchants shipped their goods up and down the Nile to distant cities.
