The Scholar is a Medieval Era civilian unit from The Black Death, a scenario in Civilization VI: Gathering Storm. It can gain Science from plague-stricken cities.
- Attributes:
- Has 2 charges (4 with Studia Generalia).
- Can be purchased with Gold, but not with Faith.
- Can only be trained if you choose to "Treat the Sick" after unlocking Castles. Mutually exclusive with the Flagellants.
- Abilities:
- Study Plague (consumes 1 charge; studies plague-stricken cities to gain Science)
Strategy[]
The Scholar should be moved to cities that are plague-stricken so it can provide Science. This unit is helpful if you want to unlock the final technology Invention to win the scenario.
Also, the Studia Generalia policy provides 2 extra charges making it able to provide more Science without having to purchase a new Scholar. The more Scholars you have the more Science you will get!
Civilopedia entry[]
Prior to the Black Death, there was a flourishing of learning and education in Europe, and the rise of the university meant a new class of educated professional devoted to study. Some scholars focused on practical affairs like law, but a growing group turned to questions of the nature of knowledge and natural philosophy, paving the way for the early Renaissance.
