Strategy[]
The Shrine is added in Gods & Kings, the first expansion for Civilization V. It is the first Faith-producing building, available very early (after researching Pottery). Note that your empire doesn't normally produce any Faith unless you settled next to a natural wonder or are playing as the Celts, so you'll need to build Shrines and start accumulating Faith early on if you want to found a religion.
