Silver is a resource in Civilization IV.

Silver is a luxury resource. It provides commerce and happiness to the city that works it, but when improved with a Mine, it takes away 1 
from the +2 (or +3 with railroad) that the Mine usually provides.

Silver is a chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol "Ag" and the atomic number 47. A soft, white, lustrous transition metal, silver has the highest electrical and thermal conductivity of any metal and is found in mineral deposits and in free form.
Slag heaps found in Asia Minor indicate that silver has been known about for a long time, and that it was being separated from lead as early as the fourth millennium BC.
