Towards the end of the 20th century the lawsuit became an increasingly popular means of attack in both political and private conflicts. As international laws assumed greater authority, skilled lawyers waged battles for their countries over a wide range of issues ranging from manufacturing laws to international trade. Many of the lawsuits pursued by the nations of the time crossed into a gray zone between legitimate business concerns and outright economic warfare.
