Swamp is a type of terrain in Civilization: Call to Power.
Gameplay[]
Swamps can support a Civilization though farming is impossible. Movement through the ooze is reduced to a crawl unless roads are built, which is costly in a swamp. The same ooze, however, provides a natural defensive bonus. Rivers greatly enhance this terrain.
Great Library entry[]
Malaria, typhoid fever, alligators, and snakes are only a few of the pleasant surprises that have made swamps historically inhospitable to civilization. Draining a swamp is a costly, time-consuming, and dangerous enterprise. Thousands of lives and over $390 million were used to create the Panama Canal.
