Civilization Wiki

Exactly how much Tourism do I need in order to achieve the Cultural Victory? Is it just like Civ 5(generate more Tourism than the total Cullture of all other countries)?Higakoryu (talk) 09:05, June 20, 2018 (UTC)

Incorrect math in Example section?[]

Now I coluld definitely be doing my simple math incorrectly which is why I'm posting here instead of simply editing the page, but shouldn't the total yield in the Example section be (216 * 1.83 = 395.28) instead of 404? It would be 404 if the total international modifier was 87% instead of 83%, right? (216 * 1.87 = 403.92).

The calculation in the example includes misleading errors, three artifacts with those bonuses make 45 tourism yield, not 212. The bonuses are additive not cumulative. Overall the wording of tourism bonuses in the game are a little misleading and I think that ought to be explained here. I propose to rewrite the example section.

Gauls[]

Gaul mines don't provide Tourism.

Unreasonable Wiki Admin[]

Why are undoing my changes? It doesn't matter where the yield comes from: terrain, religion, building, leader ability, etc. This page talks about Tourism and in my examples, they give Tourism. If you want to keep incorrect information in this wiki, then fine. The responsibility is back on your court. Have you even tried my scenarios before outright dismissing that they are false? I'm done with editing in this wiki with an admin who won't admit that he/she is wrong.

As per the way that bullet point is worded, the information given is correct - it states that "Any tile improvement that generates Culture Culture also generates Tourism6 Tourism equal to the cultural value." If you want to change the wording to "Most tile improvements that generate Culture Culture" as you tried to do in your last two edits, you need to list examples of Culture Culture-generating tile improvements that don't generate Tourism6 Tourism after discovering Flight. Kampungs, Kurgans, Colossal Heads, and Rock-Hewn Churches aren't valid examples because their Tourism6 Tourism, as stipulated later in that same bullet point, is based on yields other than Culture Culture, and your second edit gave examples of terrain, not tile improvements, generating Culture Culture. (Besides, some of the information you added in that edit was wrong - Plantations don't generate Culture Culture unless you've founded the Goddess of Festivals pantheon.)
Also, the wording of this bullet point doesn't mean the converse is true - that is, not every tile improvement that generates Tourism6 Tourism also generates Culture Culture. If you think otherwise, either you're using flawed logic or you need to reread the bullet point and name a valid exception to the rule, and I see no reason to change the wording until you can. -Mythril Wyrm (talk) 20:06, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

What is the problem?[]

Do you know what is the problem? You believe what you think the game should do rather than check what the game actually does. No amount of reasoning will convince you otherwise because you firmly believe your ideas. That's just arrogance! So does your supreme intellect supersede the game mechanics? Hahaha. Some admin we have here.

I can only assume this was supposed to be a continuation of the thread above, and possibly posted by the same user under a different IP address. So...
No, the problem is that you're either not reading and understanding the bullet point properly or not making correct assumptions. I already explained in detail why the examples given were not valid reasons to say "Most tile improvements that generate Culture Culture" and made my case for the original wording being accurate. Cite one example of a tile improvement that generates Culture Culture but doesn't generate Tourism6 Tourism after discovering Flight, and I'll reconsider my position. -Mythril Wyrm (talk) 18:38, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
