Strategy[]
Apart from taking a little longer to train, the Teutonic Knight is much better than the standard Swordsman: it's stronger, cheaper to maintain, and receives an impressive
Combat Strength bonus in enemy territory. It's also available as soon as the scenario begins, making the Holy Roman Empire a dreadful foe if they decide to go on the offensive while the plague sweeps over the land.
Civilopedia entry[]
One of the religious orders of knighthood in Europe, the Teutonic Knights conducted the Northern Crusade against the pagan tribes in the Baltic region. They were particularly noted for their aggressiveness, their intransigence, their wealth, and their austere lifestyle, even by the standards of crusader orders.
