The Teutonic Knight is a unique melee unit of the Imperial civilization from The Black Death scenario in Civilization VI: Gathering Storm. It replaces the Swordsman.

  • Common abilities:
    • +5 Strength Combat Strength vs. anti-cavalry units.
  • Special abilities:
    • +8 Strength Combat Strength in enemy territory.
  • Special traits:
    • Higher Strength Combat Strength (38 vs. 35).
    • Higher Production Production cost (100 vs. 90).
    • No Gold Gold maintenance cost.

Strategy[]

Apart from taking a little longer to train, the Teutonic Knight is much better than the standard Swordsman: it's stronger, cheaper to maintain, and receives an impressive Strength Combat Strength bonus in enemy territory. It's also available as soon as the scenario begins, making the Holy Roman Empire a dreadful foe if they decide to go on the offensive while the plague sweeps over the land.

Civilopedia entry[]

One of the religious orders of knighthood in Europe, the Teutonic Knights conducted the Northern Crusade against the pagan tribes in the Baltic region. They were particularly noted for their aggressiveness, their intransigence, their wealth, and their austere lifestyle, even by the standards of crusader orders.
