The Barringer Crater is one of only four natural wonders which provide a 
Science bonus, and that makes it quite desirable in the early game. Try to settle a city nearby ASAP to make full use of the bonus while it means something.

The Barringer Crater is a huge meteorite crater located in Arizona, in the United States of America. The crater is four thousand feet in diameter, and scientists believe that it was created some 50,000 years ago when the site was hit by a large nickel-iron meteorite weighing, at time of impact, 160,000 tons and moving at perhaps 27,000 miles per hour.
