Back to List of districts in Civ6

The Walled Quarter is a specialty District District, used to quarantine the victims of the Plague in The Black Death scenario in Civilization VI: Gathering Storm. It requires the Castles technology.

  • Effects:
    • +4 Housing Housing
    • 15% chance to avoid plague deaths each turn

Strategy[]

When playing The Black Death scenario, this district is an absolute must. Not only does it keep your people alive from the plague, it also gives a significant boost to Housing Housing that will keep your cities growing. Try to surround it with districts for maximum adjacency bonuses. Build a Walled Quarter in all of your plague-stricken cities in order to keep them alive until the game ends.

Civilopedia entry[]

Without a proper understanding of the epidemiology of the plague, residents of cities nonetheless discovered a system for containing the Black Death: Walling off the victims in a permanent quarantine. This draconian measure doomed the walled-off victims to a terrible fate but could occasionally check the progress of the plague. It is an example of the terrible calculus of suffering in the Black Death that some healthy people willingly accepted quarantine rather than see the pestilence spread.
