A yield is one of the numerical statistics provided to a city when it works a tile[1] in Civilization IV and its expansions. Yields include Bread (Civ4) Food, Hammer (Civ4) Production, and Coin (Civ4) Commerce, the last of which is converted into Culture (Civ4) Culture, Coins (Civ4) Gold, Beaker (Civ4) Science, and Espionage (Civ4) Espionage (in Beyond the Sword) each turn.

The following city attributes can also affect a city's yields:

  • Happiness (Civ4) HappinessAnger (Civ4) Unhappy citizens don't work.
  • Health (Civ4) HealthUnhealthiness (Civ4) Unhealthy cities receive less food for growth.
  1. City specialists and buildings may also produce (pre-conversion) "yield" values without working tiles, but most produce only (post-conversion) "spend/use" values.
