A yield is one of the numerical statistics provided to a city when it works a tile[1] in Civilization IV and its expansions. Yields include Food Food, Production Production, and Commerce Commerce, the last of which is converted into Culture Culture, Gold Gold, Science Science, and Espionage Espionage (in Beyond the Sword) each turn.

The following city attributes can also affect a city's yields:

  • Happiness HappinessAnger (Civ4) Unhappy citizens don't work.
  • Health HealthUnhealthiness (Civ4) Unhealthy cities receive less food for growth.
  1. City specialists and buildings may also produce (pre-conversion) "yield" values without working tiles, but most produce only (post-conversion) "spend/use" values.
